Grief Therapy
Providing grief therapy in Calgary and online anywhere in Alberta
Grief. It is something that every human will experience at some point in their life. We do not have to go through a big significant loss to experience grief. There can be anticipatory grief when we know the loss is coming, or it might be a loss that occurs suddenly and the grief feels overwhelming and jarring to our systems. Your experience of grief is unique, just as you are unique. You might here things like “aren’t you over it yet?”, “it was just a pet, that’s not a loss to grieve”, “it happened for a reason”, or “they’re in a better place”.
Other people in our lives can think they know about our grief, but ultimately our grief is ours to move through and carry. However, you do not need to experience this alone. Having a grief therapist that can be a compassionate witness to your grief can be a powerful relationship that can bring healing and restoration. Cause here’s the thing about grief, there’s often not an end date. What we can do though is learn to grow into our grieving and manage being in both the grieving and the restoration, going back and forth between the two so that we can survive and thrive.
